Primary Colours: Red, Yellow and blue – These three colours mix together to form every other colour.

Secondary Colours:  Green, violet and orange – these colours are made by combining two primary colours together.

Tertiary Colours:  Tertiary colours are made by mixing together a primary and an adjacent secondary colour, there are generally six, but browns are sometimes considered tertiary colours.

Warm Colours:  Will appear to be closer / advance – these include reds, oranges and yellows.

Cool Colours:  Will appear to be further away / recede – these include greens, blues and violets.

Hue:  Red, yellow blue, etc

Value:  Tonal value

Intensity:  Brightness or dullness
