Dry Graphitint produces just a suggestion of colour, but water can be added to wash out the lines and make the colour much more vibrant.
Graphitint pencils are made from water-soluble coloured graphite.
The colours are not permanent, so can be lifted and reactivated on the page- like watercolours or traditional aquarelle coloured pencils.​
Use Graphitint pencils on rough and smooth surfaces. The rough surface will give you a grainier result, which you smooth out with water, whilst the smooth paper will be great for illustrations and small details.
