The post Kuretake Gansai Tambi Sets first appeared on The Little Art Shop.]]> Kuretake Gansai Tambi (Gansai meaning “vibrance” and Tambi meaning “aesthetic”) are artist-quality Japanese paints that are described as watercolours, but have a very different feel and effect.
Kuretake Gansai Tambi is a traditional Japanese water-based paint. It can be used as gouache or watered down as watercolour, and is lightfast.
The colours are vibrant without being overly saturated.
While Western watercolors tend to have a stronger focus on transparency, Gansai is meant to be more opaque, especially when painted in thicker layers.
