These brushes have carefully arranged bristles to form a perfect angled, round, rounded flat or squared flat shape.

  • The angled brush creates a thick to thin ribbon effect. Ideal for painting precise lines and suitable to double and side loading.
  • Flat brushes are versatile and straight edged. Suitable for blending colours, applying washes and glazes. Produces broad strokes with sharp sides.
  • Filbert brushes are flat brushes with a rounded edge. Suitable for everything from base coating to applying washes, and for creating thin, flowing organic shapes and dynamic lines.
  • Round brushes are gradually tapering and are perfect for producing dynamic lines. These are professional standard and suited to fine work in oil, acrylic, gouache.

Invented in China around 300 B.C.E, the bamboo brush was originally intended solely for traditional calligraphy and ink painting styles. When grouped together with the inkstone, inkstick and xuan paper, these implements form what’s called the “Four Treasures of the Study,” a name used to denote the tools necessary to create ink works.
Available in sizes 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Not suitable for shellac or lacquer.
